Five Skin Care Tips for All Ages

By: Kadija Mahamud

People worldwide dream of having flawless, glowing skin, but that is not the most straightforward task. Intensive skincare routines are hard to keep up with, and most of the time, you just don’t know what things to look out for. Today, I will be outlining five achievable skin care tips for all ages.

1. Wear sunscreen!

As obvious as this seems, people tend to brush off the importance of sunscreen. Sun exposure can cause countless skin issues, including wrinkles, age spots, and other skin problems. Dermatologists recommend using at least SPF 30 as it blocks out 95% of the sun’s UV Rays.

2. Eat a healthy diet. Treat your body right!

Drinking plenty of water and eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help not only your skin prosper but your entire body too.

3. Keep your skin moisturized.

As Dr. Janet Prystowsky, an NYC-based dermatologist, says, “The best times to moisturize are right after you get out of the shower and right before you go to bed.” Stay away from moisturizers with fragrances and use gentle moisturizers that will not cause irritation when used every day.

4. Manage your stress.

This one is easier said than done. However, a healthy body comes with a healthy mind. Find ways to keep your stress in check, such as managing your time, getting enough sleep, and setting aside time for yourself.

5. Be gentle with your skin.

When it comes to our faces, people often are much rougher than they need to be. This can be damaging to our skin. The same goes for the products you use. Avoid strong soaps as they strip your skin of their natural oils, pat your skin dry rather than rubbing and shave carefully by lubricating your skin and shaving in the direction your hair grows.
